Camping in Frisco, CO

We love camping so we jump at any opportunity to pack up our backpacks and hit the trails. If you followed along on my Instagram, you know from my stories that we took advantage of this beautiful Colorado weather and went up to the mountains to camp for the weekend. It was the perfect weekend of cooler weather and disconnecting from the city.

Our Campsite

I always get a lot of DM’s about how we find our campsites. We personally prefer staying in State Parks, National Forrest’s or National parks so we find our campsites through Colorado Parks and Wildlife. The website is super user friendly and we always find the prettiest locations.

This weekend we stayed in Frisco at Peak One Campground which is right along the Dillon Reservoir. It is beautiful and has a great hike along the reservoir. You can easily access the trail from the campground and it is very well maintained. We also saw a lot of mountain bikers on the trail so we added that to our bucket list for our next camping trip!

Hiking the Dillon Reservoir

Once we dropped our camping gear off we hit the trails. If you know us, you know that hiking while camping is our favorite activity. The fresh air and the smell of pines fills my soul with goodness. We decided to hit the trail right off our campsite that goes along the Dillon Reservoir. Even if you’re not camping but looking for a hike near Breckenridge, I definitely recommend it for the gorgeous views and nice little loop around the lake. Make sure to bring plenty of water and sunscreen on this hike as it is full sun!

S’mores Time!

Is there seriously anything better in this world than a s’more cooked over a campfire?! After a long day of hiking, we returned to our campsite to start a fire and relax. We had so much fun sitting around the fire talking about everything under the stars. In the mountains you can see the most incredible views of the stars, it’s breathtaking.

We had a great debate about s’mores being lightly toasted vs. burnt and which one tastes better, tell us below what you prefer! And let me know where your next camping trip will be. Our next camping trip is in Rocky Mountain National Park in September!
