If you’ve been following along with me on my Instagram stories, you might have seen that I went to Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri this weekend. I lived in St. Louis for a few years growing up and so we went there for the long weekend to spend time with some close friends!
We got so lucky with the great weather because if you know Missouri, you know that it’s hot and humid there. The weather was low to mid-70’s all weekend and little humidity which was perfect!
If you’re heading to the lake soon, check out my 5 must visit spots in the Lake of the Ozarks.
The Yankee Peddlers Tea Room
Whenever I go somewhere new, a coffee or tea shop is always the first stop. I heard from a few locals about how great The Tea Room was so I knew I had to check it out. It was one of the cutest spots to sit down, sip some great tea and escape the hustle of the Ozarks. On top of it all, they have some amazing sweet treats to try!
There’s only a few shops along the Lake of the Ozarks strip and Dogpatch is one I would definitely recommend. It’s a great two-level shop that is FULL of fun little knick-knacks and souvenirs. I love finding local shops in new places that I visit because I love finding local artists and creatives. It’s so fun to see the creativity that artists come up with in different parts of the country. I also love bottled soda and bottle caps, I love looking at all of the colors and creative bottle design. It’s a great store to walk around and explore!
When I heard about this bar/restaurant at the lake, I knew I had to go. Jolly Rogers is a great local bar right on the lake that has an incredible view. The main bar is made out of a speed boat, which is awesome! They also have a great drink selection of frozen or on the ice drink. They have this fun addition to the drinks where they ask if you want a “floater”. A floater is an extra shot which I thought was super fun!
On top of their great drink selection, they have an extensive food menu as well. There is a lot of bar food options and a great oyster bar. If you enjoy oysters, there are a few different oyster and muscle options that looked fantastic!
Grandpas Ice Cream
If you have a sweet tooth like I do, I love finding local sweet shops and Grandpas did not disappoint. All of their ice cream and pies are completely homemade! When you walk into the shop you are greeted by the delicious smells of waffle cones being made. As you make your way into line, the options of ice cream flavors are endless. I tried the caribou tracks which was vanilla ice cream, caramel swirls and chocolate caramel cups. It was scrumptious!
They have a great outdoor sitting area of fun neon chairs and tables where you can eat your ice cream right along the lake. So grab your ice cream and enjoy listening to the lake waves outside on their patio!
Hit the Lake!
You can’t go to Lake of the Ozarks without hitting the lake. We were fortunate enough that our friends had a boat and wave runner that we were able to use out on the lake. The lake is massive and it is so fun to explore all the different coves since the main channel is extremely choppy and can sometimes be hard to navigate. I would recommend staying within the coves and exploring all the gorgeous homes that are along the lake.
There are a lot of different boat rentals all along the lake and you can rent a wave runner too! I also saw so many parasailing companies where you can pay to parasail on Lake of the Ozarks! That is definitely on my list for next time because the lake water is so clear and the perfect temperature so I know parasailing on that water would be so fun!
There is no shortage of fun spots at the Lake of the Ozarks. We spent a great weekend exploring and spending time with some great friends. What other must visit spots in the Lake of the Ozarks have you been to?
