You don’t need to hop on a plane or take a week of PTO to get out and explore, go explore the towns around you and find those hidden gems! Keep reading to see why you need to spend Saturday in this cute little town!
Things to do in Golden, CO
Coffee at Higher Grounds Cafe
I love local coffee shops! Higher Grounds Cafe was so fun and cozy. They have seasonal flavors that are themed. The Harry Potter fan in me spotted the Butterbeer latte right away, I was so excited. The coffee was delicious and the staff was extremely friendly and personable. I grabbed my coffee and headed out to their outdoor patio. The patio sits high above the downtown of Golden and has the perfect view of the downtown and tabletop mountain. Sip your coffee as you take in the views, it’s the perfect start to a busy Saturday exploring!
Get gelato at Tributary Market & Drinkery
Food Halls are my new favorite. I just think it’s genius to put a bunch of different restaurants together with a communal bar and a ton of seating. It’s a great idea for friends and happy hours because everyone can find something! We decided to head into the new Tributary Market & Drinkery in Golden.
There are some great options inside of Tributary . There is a coffee place, a taco place, a bagel shop and even a gelato shop! I love gelato so I decided to have 2 scoops of stracciatella flavor! If you haven’t had the stracciatella flavor before, I can’t recommend it enough. It is a vanilla base with flakes of chocolate and nutella on top. Yum!
Visit Blue Moose Trading Company
Ready for some shopping?? We explored the Golden downtown after a little sweet treat and stumbled into so many cute spots! First up was Blue Moose Trading Company and it was the cutest shop we visited. If you’re looking for and holiday or birthday gifts, this is the place for you. Not only did they have fun Colorado trinkets but they also have the cutest mugs and cards to browse. One of my favorite things in the store was the “I love you to the mountains and back” mug. Phil and I say this to each other every day so to find it in a mug, you know we had to have it! I can’t wait to find the perfect place to display it in our apartment.
Shop at Golden Goods, Inc
Golden Goods, Inc. is all things toys, candy and gifts. If you have a connection to Golden, you can find so many fun Golden goodies here along with cute decor! I now officially need the AU watercolor sign to hang in our apartment. The AU items all over Golden are so fun, as AU is Gold on the periodic table.
Take your photo at the Golden Wall
If you’re a photo taker like me, I always scope out where the murals are in new cities that I explore. I was in luck, Golden has a new mural! It’s a beautiful “Welcome to Golden” mural that had stunning colors on the back of the Golden History Museum. The museum also has free admission through the end of 2019 so when you’re done taking your picture at the mural, head inside and learn all about the fascinating history of Golden, CO!
Grab a cider at Colorado Plus Cidery & Pub
I’m not a huge beer drinker, but I love a good cidery. I decided to check out Colorado Plus Cidery & Pub. I was very impressed by their wide selection of ciders, sodas and beers. I tried the Original Sin- Black Widow cider that is brewed in New York. It was a blackberry cider that was the perfect amount of crisp and tangy! In addition to the great selection of ciders, they also have a great food menu. Grab a cider and head out to their patio, the weather right now is perfect for sipping on an apple cider and enjoying the cooler fall weather!
Visit Toad & Co.
While you’re exploring downtown Golden, don’t forget to stop by Toad & Co. If you’re looking for a cute local shop, this is it! Toad & Co. is an outdoorsy gear and clothing must see. They have functional camping gear and the cutest backpacks and hiking boots.
Get lunch at Nomad Taqueria + Beer Garden
Nomad Taqueria + Beer Garden has a fantastic outdoor patio. There is corn hole to play and large picnic tables to hangout at. I decided on a chicken taco, steak taco and shrimp taco. The shrimp taco was my favorite and I will definitely go back for more shrimp tacos!
Golden is such a fun Saturday getaway for the day and is the definition of a Colorado hidden gem. There’s so many fun things to do in Golden, Colorado and the surrounding area – especially in the fall. Happy exploring!
